Should School Art Programs Be Funded By Property Tax?

District 34 school board candidate, Glenn Farkas, recently told the Journal & Topics that schools should consider funding art and music programs without property taxes, though it might take "thinking outside the box" to find the best solution.
According to Farkas, property taxes could still be used to fund core subjects such as history, English, math and science, but “everything else is ancillary,” the Journal & Topics reports.

Farkas is running as a write-in candidate in April's village elections after his ballot petition was rejected because of a missing paperclip, Patch previously reported.
