Village Approves Willow Creek, Housing Development at Glen

The mega-church and 171 housing units will be built at 2000 Shermer Road.

The Glenview Board of Trustees has given the green light to a massive church and large housing development on the last remaining parcel of Glenview Naval Air Station property, according to an article in the Glenview Announcements.

Willow Creek Community Church will build a 75,000-square-foot church that has a 1,500-person capacity and Edward R. James will build 171 units of detached houses, row houses and townhomes at a development called Westgate at the Glen.

The trustees approved the proposal unanimously, the Announcements article states. The final proposal incorporated changes based on concerns from neighbors about traffic.

I'm good with the Edward James Development but to build a "MASSIVE" cult chuch is a terrible idea. Sad.

Ok, so is your issue less about traffic and instead more about your prejudice against this church? I know several couples that are involved in this church (it is not a "cult" by any stretch) and find the derision directed at it astounding. I don't believe in all their theological doctrines, but I recognize this is a good, charitable and positive presence in our community and they should be welcomed with open arms.
