ComEd reported that more than 2,100 feet of underground residential distribution cable had been treated or replaced so far this year, and some 40,000 additional feet was planned for replacement by the end of the year.

Underground residential development (URD) cable is either injected to fill in voids in the insulation or replaced where necessary to reduce the number of customer service interruptions due to cable failures.
