Today's Classroom Lesson: Changes in Teacher Salaries Since 1970

A Chicago blogger has put together a useful and fascinating interactive map for tracking average teacher pay by state since 1970. You can even adjust the figures for inflation. Highly recommended.

Teachers in Illinois make much more today in their yearly salary than they did in 1970. But when adjusted for inflation, there is little change. Blogger Jon Boeckenstedt put together a map and a data table showing the average teacher salaries across the United States and how those numbers have changed every decade from 1970 to the current day.

It's a great tool to use and should be a must-see for anyone who is interested at all in how much teachers are making and how that salary has gone up and down over time. CHECK IT OUT HERE.
