District 225 to Spend $1.2M on Laptops for Students
Glenbrook High School District 225 officials are spending $1.2 million over the next four years on the “one-to-one initiative,” which will provide laptops for freshmen, sophomores and juniors attending schools within the district,Chicago Tribune reports.
District officials recently approved buying 3,900 Samsung ChromBooks for students, and as part of the program, freshmen, sophomores and juniors in the district will need to pay $25 in the first year for the device, while seniors will have the option to purchase the device at a reduced price through the district, the newspaper reported.
Nearby New Trier High School District 203 recently adopted a similar tech plan, which will have all students using their own iPad for school by the 2014-15 school year. But some New Trier parents have spoken out against the plan saying it is too costly.
