District 30 Preschool Screenings

Screening day was designed to identify preschoolers who may benefit from special education assistance prior to enrollment in Kindergarten. Students who live within the District 30 boundaries can be screened in the area sof speech and language, concept development, and/or motor development.Vision and hearing screenings are also available.

The screenings take approximately one hour to complete. They are conducted by the district's speech clinician's, learning specialists, school psychologists and school nurses. Parents are welcome to stay with their child throughout the screenings.

According to Pepi M. Silverman, Director of Student Services, district services can begin with early identification of students who may be eligible for future support. Child find activities can be initiated as early as 2-1/2 years of age, in anticipation of a child's third birthday. To schedule an appointment, call Mary Lynn Mackin-Petty at 847-400-8964.
