Gallery: GBS' Boys Track and Field Places 34th in State

Glenbrook South athletes placed in several competitions during the weekend's tournament.

Glenbrook South High School's boys track and field team enjoyed an eight-way for 34th place during the IHSA 2012 State Tournament.

The Titans faced off against dozens of other top boy's track and field teams this weekend for the coveted state title.

Lake Park High School in Roselle took home the top honor, with Edwardsville High School taking second, and Oak Park-River Forest High School rounding out the top three.

Runners placed in the following competitions:

  • Senior Max Leonard took 5th in the Disc Throw Competition.
  • Senior Sam Stanek took 12th in the 800-Meter Run. 
  • Junior Austin Dickholtz, junior Malcolm Engel, senior Kyle Pekosh and sophomore Luke Pilliod placed 7th in the 3x3 Relay Race. 

Runners beat the heat wave to compete Thursday through Saturday at the O'Brien Stadium in Charleston, Illinois.

Approximately 176 teams, including GBS, competed in IHSA's 3A Series.
