Last week, the Glenbrook South Marching Titans took home a championship trophy after competing against Illinois marching bands at the 14th Annual St. Rita Mustang Stampede, according to a District 225 press release.
In addition to being awarded St. Rita’s Mustang Stampede Grand Champion, the GBS Marching Titans took home Class AAA Best Winds, Best Percussion and First Place.
The 170-member group performed their field show entitled “Visiones de Argentina.” Musical selections include: Oblivion and Libertango by Astor Piazolla and selections from Estancia Suite by Alberto Ginastera.
“To the band, this award is a welcome acknowledgement for many months of tireless effort working towards perfecting our show. For our senior class, this award signifies four years of hard work to develop into well-rounded musicians,” Band Director Greg Wojcik said in the release.
In December, the Marching Titans will be featured at the Russell Athletic Bowl in sunny Orlando, Florida. Their next competition will at Downer's Grove South on October 26th.
