GBS Responds to 'U.S. News' Rankings

"While it's nice to be recognized for our efforts, these rankings are not the instrument we use to measure success," a District 225 and Glenbrook South spokesperson wrote.

For the second year in a row, Glenbrook South High School did not appear on the U.S. News and World Report's ranking of best schools in the state and country. 

Nearby, Glenbrook North High School was ranked No. 16 in Illinois.

"Publications and organizations rank school districts using vastly different criteria, therefore our placements on these lists vary from high to not appearing at all," District 225's Director of Communication, Karen Geddeis, wrote in an email. "While it’s nice to be recognized for our efforts, these rankings are not the instrument we use to measure success."

A few readers talked about the U.S. News ranking on the Glenview Patch Facebook, and it didn't seem like anyone was going to move out of town over the ranking just yet. 

"I still have a great deal of clients looking to move into or stay within the GBS school district," wrote Paul Cionczyk, a Glenview realtor. "You can rank schools all day long, it really comes down to what you feel is the best fit for your kids, your pocketbook, and your lifestyle..."
