Glenbrook South Adopting Block Scheduling

Similar to Glenbrook North, GBS students will have the option of taking eight classes over a two-day period, starting in 2014.

The 2014-15 school year will be an unusual one for Glenbrook South students — that's when the high school's new block scheduling model will take effect, according to the District 225 website.

The revised schedule accommodates eight, 90-minute classes meeting over two days, instead of the current model of seven daily classes.

"...our parents and students are highly supportive of the new initiative," GBS Principal Dr. Brian Wegley says on the district site.

The district expects to hire five or six new teachers to accommodate the new scheduling, which has been in development since 2011.
