Glenbrook South Cheerleaders, Debate Team Earn Impressive Victories

The GBS varsity cheerleaders have qualified for the February state championships in Springfield and the debate team scored first place at a contest in Iowa.

The Titan cheerleading squad has already made quite a name for itself in 2013.

On Jan. 9, Glenbrook South hosted the Central Suburban League conference competition where the varsity chreeleading squad took home third place. This is the first time GBS hosted the conference and it was their highest finish in the cheer program’s history.

A total of 15 squads performed, with nine competing for scores and placement.

Debate Out Performs 60 Schools for Top Finish

The GBS debate team earned a first place sweepstakes trophy at the Dowling Catholic Paradigm Invitational in Des Moines, IA in December featuring 60 schools from 14 states.

GBS had nearly double the points of the second place finishers.

Over the three-day contest, GBS seniors Neil Patel, Bobby Shaw, Ben Wolch and juniors Chris Callahan, Chris Coleman, and Brent Mitchell went undefeated, earning their teams a three-way tie for first place.
