Glenbrook South Closed Thursday Due to Water Main Break

Crews were working to locate utilities before beginning to drill by 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Public works director Jerry Burke expected the main to be repaired in four to six hours.

Due to a water main break in front of Glenbrook South, school was cancelled on Thursday, Dec. 5, but would be back in session on Friday, according to the school's website.

The high school notified the public works department of the break in a 6-inch main that services the building around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, according to public works director Jerry Burke. The department shut down water at 7:30 a.m. and by 9:30 a.m., crews were working to locate utilities before going in to drill.

The break was successfully patched by the end of the day Thursday, according to the school's website.

Singer Dancer auditions, varsity athletic practices and a gymnastics meet at Maine East continued as scheduled, according to the high school's website. All other activities and lower level athletic practices were canceled after school.

Students will not have to make up the missed day of school because Glenbrook North is in session.
