Glenbrook South Ranked 32nd Most Challenging IL School

The 'Washington Post' figures are based on number of college-level tests given at a school in 2011 divided by the number of graduates that year.

But not as challenging as others.

According to The High School Challenge, released recently by the Washington Post, North and South came in 31st and 32nd respectively among Illinois high schools. Fifty-six schools were studied.

Well the paper applied a simple formula: the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or other college-level tests a school gave in 2010 divided by the number of graduating seniors.

Earlier this month, . Glenbrook South was not included on that list, despite ranking of other neighboring schools including Glenbrook North (#19), New Trier (#13), Evanston Township (#17) and both Highland Park (#12) and Deerfield High Schools (#7).

The rankings were released as part of the Best High School rankings, now in its fourth edition, according to the Huffington Post. To be eligible for a state ranking, a school must be a national gold or silver medal winner, neither of which was awarded to Glenbrook South.
