Glenbrook South Responds To Report Of Nearby Weapon Sighting

The Glenview Police Department got a call Friday morning about a possible weapon sighting near West Lake Ave. and Milwaukee Ave. Further investigation determined the report was probably unfounded.

The Glenview Police Department got a call Friday morning about a possible weapon sighting near West Lake Ave. and Milwaukee Ave., according to a Village of Glenview press release.

Police advised Glenbrook South officials to keep students on campus during lunch periods as a safety precaution and to prevent traffic congestion in the area while the report was investigated, the release says. No formal lock down order was made, and the situation wasn't considered a danger to the school or surrounding community.

Glenview police completed the investigation by 11:30 a.m., determining the initial report appeared unfounded, and open lunch privileges were returned to GBS students, according to the release.

Class schedules at GBS continued uninterrupted during the nearby police investigation, according to an email from GBS principal Brian Wegley.

Glenview police are excellent....of course their being supported by the residents is a major factor in keeping glenview area safer. I find it interesting that many media reports on people who are shot in south chicago are always accompanied by a note that the " victim" not cooperating with police...

"Possible Weapon Sighting" Really? Come to grips with the fact that Conceal Carry is coming to Illinois... your going to be seeing some guns on a daily basis. People will be taking them out to store in their cars and taking them out of their cars to bring into the stores and Movie theaters for self defense purposes.
