The following information was provided by Character Counts.
The 16th annual Character Counts! in Glenview writing contest invites students in fifth through eighth grades to describe a scenario where a lack of character resulted in a hurtful or negative situation.
Writers must then use one of the pillars of character to improve the outcome and explain how the situation changed as a result. The pillars are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
