School Bus Driver Fired For Driving Through Flood Water

Glenview's District 34 had a contracted bus driver fired from the district's route after a news helicopter spotted him driving through flood waters last week.

Glenview Elementary School District 34 requested the removal of an Illinois Central School Bus (ICSB) driver from D34 routes after a news helicopter spotted him driving through a flooded road a few days after April's floods, according to the Journal and Topics.

“No students were on the bus at the time of the incident (Monday at approximately 6:45 a.m.) as it was headed to Glenview to start running its routes at that time,” Dist. 34 spokesman Brett Clark told the Journal. “While the bus was used for routes on Monday morning, there were no incidents with the bus. However, as a precautionary measure, the bus was pulled off all afternoon routes on Monday. The district has requested that the driver will no longer drive on District 34 routes."

A storm caused heavy flooding in Glenview and surrounding communities on Thursday, Apr. 18.
