Glenview Bridal Store Featured On ‘Say Yes to the Dress’

Pat Davis bought the dress for her daughter Patty Ann's wedding at Gigi's Closette in Glenview. Patty Ann's wedding will be featured on a special episode of the TBS show

Longtime Glenview bridal store Gigi’s Closette is getting its fifteen minutes of fame sometime next year, when the shop is featured on a special episode of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress.

The producers chose local bride Patty Ann Davis and her Bahamas wedding as the focus of an hour-long special called “The Big Day,” which follows one bride’s wedding process from start to finish. Davis’ mother, Pat Davis, bought her mother-of-the-bride dress at Gigi’s Closette, and producers came to the store at 1520 E. Lake Ave to film her trying it on.

“She’s been a customer of ours for years,” says Danielle Keenan, who owns the store along with her aunt, Gigi Roberts.

Pat Davis has purchased dresses at the store for several of her daughters’ weddings, according to Keenan. This time, she chose a strapless ball gown with a full tulle skirt by the designer Jovani. The color is bright aqua blue, because the wedding was held in the Bahamas, according to Keenan.

A TBS camera crew and producer came into the shop to film Pat Davis at a fitting. Keenan and other store employees helped her choose jewelry while the seamstress worked on her hem.

“They said, ‘You know reality shows are really not a reality,” recalls Keenan. “I said, ‘Yes, yes, everybody knows that now, right?’”

Filming wrapped up on the show two weeks ago, after the wedding took place at the Atlantis Hotel.

“They’re really a very nice, sweet family,” says Keenan. “I think part of the reason why they picked the bride is she’s very down to earth, she’s a teacher, and she’s also in a band.

The bride got her dress at New York City’s famous Kleinfeld Bridal Salon, where Say Yes to the Dress is filmed, although Keenan recalls that one of her sisters bought a dress at Gigi’s Closette.

The store has operated in Glenview for more than 40 years, according to Keenan, and was originally opened by her grandmother.
