Glenbrook South Titans Sports Scoreboard

Football got a big win over Evanston while girls swimming defeated Glenbrook North in a dual match.

Boys Soccer: Glenbrook South (8-5-2) went 4-1 last week, scoring three straight wins over Central Suburban League opponents. Branden McGarrity led GBS with two goals against New Trier in a 5-1 victory while Kosta Brkovic scored his first varsity goal. McGarrity one-upped himself the next day with a hat trick against Glenbrook North in the Titans’ 5-1 win.

The Titans went 1-1 in the Glenbrook North tournament, beating Bartlett 3-0 before losing a 2-1 decision to Lake Forest Academy.

The Titans also defeated Waukegan 3-1 earlier in the week.

Football: It was only three weeks ago that Glenbrook South was sitting at 1-1 with questions about its playoff chances. But after three straight wins, the slow start seems like an eternity ago.

Glenbrook South’s defense was dominant in a 26-7 victory against Evanston. The Wildkits managed just more than 100 yards of offense for the game.

Mac Zabriskie completed 9-of-17 passes for 232 yards in the game, but also threw two interceptions.

Field Hockey: Glenbrook South fell in both of its matches last week. The Titans lost to Loyola 3-1 and took a 1-0 loss to Latin.

Girls Swimming: Glenbrook South defeated Glenbrook North 110-76 on Sept 23. The Titans won all three relays (200-yard medley, 200 free and 400 free).

Katie Wells won two individual events, finishing first in the 100 free (54.50) and 100 backstroke (59.95) while Olivia Smoliga won the 50 free (23.96). Hallie Hengels took home the title in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.44).

Girls Volleyball: Glenbrook South split a pair of CSL South matches last week. The Titans swept Niles West 25-23, 25-19, but fell to New Trier in a tough 25-17, 25-22 loss.

Lisa Mahon was the offensive leader with six kills and Katie Dwyer chipped in three against New Trier. Abby Watkins sparked the defense with a team-high 11 digs.
