Glenbrook South Titans Sports Scoreboard

Quinn Prchal advanced to the golf state championships while coach Mike Noll won his 200th career game in football.

Girls Volleyball: With its steady play throughout the regular season, Glenbrook South earned the No. 3 seed in the Class 4A Glenview Sectional. The Titans open up the playoffs against Lane on Oct. 25 at Maine South. New Trier is the top seed in the sectional followed by Evanston at No. 2. Complete brackets can be found here.

The Titans fell to Maine South 25-22, 19-25, 25-19 on Oct. 5.

Cross-Country: Both of the Titans’ cross-country squads start off the postseason with the Central Suburban League Championships at Glenbrook South on Oct. 15.

Boys Soccer: The Titans split their last two games, losing to Maine West 3-0 on Oct. 4, but rebounding for a 2-0 win against Zion-Benton on Oct. 10. John Adkisson recorded his first career shutout for Glenbrook South in the victory.

Boys Golf: Despite not having his best stuff at the sectional championships, senior Quinn Prchal shot a 77 to tie for seventh place and advance to the state tournament for the second consecutive season. Prchal barely snuck into the top 10 as the cutoff for advancing individuals was 78.

As a junior, Prchal tied for 11th place at last year’s state championships.

Prchal was the only Glenbrook South golfer to advance to the sectional championships this year.

Football: Glenbrook South cruised to another win, beating Waukegan 56-14 in a CSL South matchup. .

Girls Swimming: Glenbrook South took third in the St. Charles North Invitational last weekend. The Titans (292 points) were edged by Neuqua Valley (306) and Hinsdale Central (302).

Glenbrook South garnered two relay victories at Saturday’s meet. Olivia Smoliga, Hallie Hengels, Kimmy Durkin and Katie Wells won the 200-yard medley relay in 1 minute, 48.11 seconds. Smoliga, Katie Wells, Niki Wells and Anna Veselovsky came in first in the 200 freestyle relay (1:39.09).

Smoliga was the only swimmer to earn individual first-place finishes. She won the 50 free (24.11) and 100 backstroke (56.36).

Notes: The IHSA Board approved a recommendation to establish Competitive Dance as a state series sport beginning in the winter of 2012-13.

“I believe it is a positive any time you are able to add a sport or activity that allows more students to be involved and participate,” IHSA Executive Director Marty Hickman said. “We believe that many of our member schools will take advantage of this opportunity and hope this decision provides further growth for dance among high schools in Illinois.”
