Holiday Guide: Enjoy Plenty of Winter Weather Fun

As winter approaches, hit the rink or hill for plenty of outdoor and indoor frosty fun.

Be it sledding or ice skating bundle up to enjoy plenty of winter-weather activities in the Glenview area.

The Glenview Park District maintains several sledding and outdoor ice skating options including:

  • Flick Park, 3600 Glenview Rd. - both sledding and skating available
  • Johns Park, 2101 Central Rd. - both sledding and skating available
  • Roosevelt Park, 2200 Grove St. - ice skating only
  • Cole Park, 1031 Kenilworth Lane - ice skating only

Signs will be posted at each of the park's entrance when sledding and skating is permitted. All sled hills and skating rinks, with the exception of Cole Park, are lighted and close nightly at 10 p.m.

There is no supervision or warming facilities at any of the locations.

The 11th annual Winter Carnival at the Glenview Ice Center, 1851 Landwehr Road is set for Dec. 22 through Jan. 6.

There will be daily public skating, beginners only skating lessons, hockey lessons, parent-child hockey scrimmages, youth skills camps and more.

Stop at the Ice Center after Thanksgiving to pick up a Winter Carnival packet, or get a schedule of events online.
