Smoliga Disappointed After Championship Swim Meet

Glenbrook South alumna Olivia Smoliga called a recent swim meet one of her worst.

Glenbrook South alumna Olivia Smoliga returned home disappointed after swimming in the Phillips 66 National Championships Indianapolis held Indianapolis earlier this summer, the Glenview Announcements reports.

The Glenview swimmer earned ninth place in the women's 50m backstroke and fifth place in the 100m backstroke.

I thought that nationals was one of the worst meets I’ve ever had in my life,” Smoliga told the Glenview Announcements. “I took a week off, basically, after nationals to just kind of mentally unwind because it’s really hard to build yourself up and say, ‘You really want to make it (the 2013 U.S. national team), you’re going to make it.’ I put in like six months of hard training and I made so many sacrifices, so it’s really disappointing.”
