Northbrook 8-Year-Old Girl Still Needs Your Help

A second bone marrow drive is being held this coming Friday for Lacey Horwitch.

Editors Note: First of all, thank all of you for taking the time to read this and to those who came out to last weekend's bone marrow drive. Lacey's cousin has asked me to post this again, because although there was an incredible turnout for the first drive, no match for Lacey has been found yet. Please, come out if you can. All it takes is a simple cheek swab. And remember, miracles happen every day.

A second bone marrow drive is being held this Friday beginning at 10 a.m. in Deerfield for 8-year-old Lacey Horwitch.

Lacey has been at the University of Chicago Medical Center since August, and was diagnosed with HLH (hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis). She is currently in need of a bone marrow transplant.

Lacey's family and friends would like to thank everyone that came out to . However, there still has not been a match found for Lacey, despite over 700 people showing up for the previous drive.

All it takes is a simple cheek swab. Further tests are only done if it is determined you are a match for someone in need. The drive will take place at the address below:

Friday, December 16th at the Chicagoland Jewish High School

1095 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield, IL 60015

It will start at 10:00 a.m. Their number is 847-470-6700.

For additional information about the procedures and the National Bone Marrow Registry, visit bethematch.com or call 1-800-MARROW2 (1-800-627-7692).

can those with compromised immune systems donate?

Brooke: I was informed that you do not need to get swabbed again. However, I was told to please make sure that your current information and address are current with the registry if possible. Thanks so much for asking!

Lauren: Unfortunately, I was informed that having a compromised system would disqualify someone for this. However, Lacey's cousin has asked me to specifically thank you for taking the time to ask. Take care, and thanks again!
