“Collecting books was a way for the kids to come together as a community to help another community of kids,” said Beth Kurtzweil, a parent service project coordinator for the drive. “I heard them say things like, ‘That was my favorite book. I didn’t want to give it up, but I know it’s going to someone else who will love it as much as I did.’”
The thousands of books were then processed and ready for distribution within five days.
