Does rolling a Halloween pumpkin down a hill, then smashing it into bits sound like fun?
If you answered yes, then the Glenview Park District's "Pumpkin Smash and Bash" at Flick Park is for you. Participants will compete to roll their pumpkins down the sledding hill, then smash them into piles of compost to nourish spring plants.
This is first-ever "smash and bash," but the park district hopes to make it an annual event, according to spokesperson Arianne Venuso-Paskvan.
The event runs from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Flick Park, 3600 Glenview Road. Free; registration required.
