Services Wednesday for Deerfield resident
Mae Schwartzenberg, 100, an eight year citizen of Deerfield and a lifelong resident of the Chicago area, died Sunday. Though Schwartzenberg worked at several jobs during her life, her primary focus was home and family. “The most important thing was her family,” her son Al Schwartzenberg of Glenview said. “She was always there to take care of us. That was the most important thing in her life.” Born in Chicago in 1912, Schwartzenberg lived in different neighborhoods of Chicago until moving to Glenview and eventually Deerfield, eight years ago. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred for over 39 years. He lived in Barrington, IL the first three years of his life and then moved to Inverness, IL, where he grew up. His favorite sport was baseball, and he spent many hours on the baseball field, with a great group of fellow players. He attended Palatine Township High School and graduated in 1958. David Speer, a Winnetka resident, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 17.
David B. Speer, 61, passed away on Saturday after batting cancer, the Glenview Announcements reports. The longtime chairman and CEO of Illinois Tool Works Inc. has been on medical leave from the Glenview-based industrial equipment maker since October, Chicago Tribune reported. Speer was replaced by E. Scott Santi as CEO, and Robert Morrison as nonexecutive board chairman, according to the News Gazette. The Winnetka resident joined ITW in 1978 and was elected CEO in 2005. A year later Speer became board chairman, The News-Gazette reported. ITW stock outperformed the broader market while Speer served as CEO, during that time the company’s revenue also grew about 40 percent, to about $18.2 billion, Crain’s Chicago Business reported. Neal Pagano, 46, died at his home Sunday morning.
Update 4:30 p.m. Oct. 15, 2012 According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, Pagano's cause of death is a spinal fracture, incurred when he fell into the pit. They have classified the death as an accident. The pit had not been used for a fire around the time of the accident, the Chicago Tribune reports.
