Court Update: Alleged Carjacker Switches Lawyers, Remains in Jail

Crystal Perez lured former boyfriend with promise of sex.

A Glenview woman charged with kidnapping and carjacking changed lawyers Aug. 16 in the Skokie branch of Cook County Circuit Court but remains in Cook County Jail unable to post the $30,000 cash portion of her $300,000 bond.  Crystal Perez, 19, was originally arrested April 13 for the March 30 kidnapping and carjacking of a 22-year-old Glenview man at knifepoint after luring him to her home with the promise of sex. The incident left the second offender, Christopher J. Walsh, 20, dead after a brief police chase and subsequent crash. Court Update: Glenview Grow House Offender Indicted, Remains in Jail

Konstantinov, charged with four marijuana related offenses, could face 15 years in jail.

A Glenview man accused of operating a marijuana grow house in Glenview was indicted on four counts of related charges Wednesday, Cook County State’s Attorney spokesman Andy Conklin told Patch.   Juro Konstantinov, 33, was originally charged July 13 after Cook County Sheriff’s deputies discovered growing marijuana plants during a routine eviction at 1427 Evergreen Terrace. Embezzlement Update: Former Hackney’s Employee Pleads Guilty

Dragman makes $186,000 reimbursement and will serve no time in prison.

Former Hackney’s bookkeeper Shawn Dragman pleaded guilty at Cook County Criminal Court July 28 to embezzling more than $186,000 from her employer.  She will be on probation for four years and serve no time in prison.  After learning Dragman made restitution to Hackney’s in the amount of $186,414, Judge Garritt Howard sentenced Dragman to four years probation and 480 hours of community service, according to Cook County State’s Attorney spokesman Andy Conklin.  Dragman was originally charged March 18 with one count of felony theft. On April 8 she was indicted on one of count of criminal financial crimes enterprise, two counts of theft in excess of $100,000 and five charges of forgery according to Conklin.  Dragman pleaded guilty to one of …

Night of Sex and Booze Leads to Guilty Plea

Niles man must register as lifetime sex offender after an evening with a minor in a Glenview motel room.

A 21-year-old Niles man pleaded guilty to having sexual contact with a minor in a Glenview motel room and four related misdemeanors in exchange for 60 days in Cook County jail and two years probation July 19. Roland Moji V. Martinez was sentenced by Judge Garritt Howard in Cook County Criminal Court in Skokie after he agreed to a plea bargain, according to Cook County State’s Attorney spokesman Andy Conklin. Former student accused of making bomb threats against GBS and GBN High Schools may seek judicial intervention.

Resolution in the case of Ryan Ricco, the former District 225 student accused of making bomb threats against Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High Schools, is getting closer, according to statements made Monday in the Skokie branch of Cook County Criminal Court. The 18-year-old Northbrook resident is charged with two separate felony counts of making false terrorist threats, carrying a possible prison term of four to 15 years, according to Cook County State’s Attorney Spokesperson Andy Conklin. UPDATE: Former SWANCC Exec Accused of Stealing $900K Awaits Trial, Allowed to Leave State

Christopher Brook Beal may leave Iliinois to tend to business in Michigan, Judge Timothy Chambers said May 17.

Bond was modified May 17 in Cook County Circuit Court to allow Christopher Brooke Beal-- the former executive director of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC)--to leave the state as he awaits trial on charges of embezzling more than $900,000.  The Cook County Grand Jury recently indicted Beal on two charges each of theft of government property, official misconduct and forgery. These Class X felonies carry a prison sentence of six to 30 years, according to Cook County State’s Attorney spokesperson Andy Conklin.  Beal was charged March 10 with stealing more than $900,000 in funds from SWANCC after a five month joint investigation involving the Glenview Police Department and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Public …

UPDATE: Local Woman Indicted for Kidnapping, Carjacking

If convicted, Crystal Perez of Glenview could face up to 30 years in prison.

The surviving offender of a carjacking and kidnapping that left one person dead and another injured was indicted for both offenses Friday in the Skokie branch of Cook County Circuit Court.  Crystal Perez, 19, was originally arrested April 13 for the March 30 kidnapping and carjacking  of a 22-year-old Glenview man at knifepoint according to Glenview Police Comm. Jeff Ader. The incident left the second offender, Christopher J. Walsh, 20, dead after a brief police chase and subsequent crash. Perez and Walsh allegedly abducted the victim in a residential area near Glenview and Shermer Roads. Former Hackney's Employee Accused of Embezzling $186K, Pleads Not Guilty

A Glenview woman charged with embezzling more than $186,000 from Hackney’s on Harms pleaded not guilty to eight felony counts of financial crimes Thursday in Cook County Criminal Court in Skokie.  Former Hackney’s waitress and bookkeeper Shawn Dragman, 52, was originally charged March 18 with one count of felony theft. On April 8 she was indicted on one count of criminal financial crimes enterprise, two counts of theft in excess of $100,000 and five charges of forgery, according to Cook County State’s Attorney spokesman Andy Conklin.  Criminal financial crimes enterprise and theft are Class 1 felonies, according to Conklin. Ricco Indicted for Bomb Threat to Glenbrook High Schools

Facebook threats result in three felony counts; arraignment scheduled for Feb. 3.

Ryan Ricco, an 18-year-old former District 225 student, was indicted Jan. 4 by a Cook County grand jury on three felony counts stemming from a Dec. 8 threat on Facebook to bomb Glenbrook North and South High Schools. The charges were announced Tuesday at a status hearing in Cook County Criminal Court in Skokie by Deputy Cook County State's Attorney Glen Runk. The Northbrook resident will be arraigned on the charges at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 3, where it is likely he will enter a plea. Ricco is accused of threatening to bomb Glenbrook North High School and walk into Glenbrook South High School with a bomb strapped to him, according to court records.
