New Plans for Avon Property Proceeding

Development would include a Mariano's Fresh Market, a bank, residential units and more

Plans to develop the old Avon property with a grocery store, apartments and several other retail businesses are in the works. Glenview officials entered into an agreement this month that would help fund infrastructure improvements for the property. Trustees agreed to a memorandum of understanding, granting the developer up to $3.5 million in TIF funds for the property that would pay for traffic improvements surrounding the property, where the Avon distribution center closed in 2010. As proposed, a Mariano’s Fresh Market would anchor the property. It would also include 30,000 square feet of additional retail space, including a bank on the south end of the property. Patch Poll: Audi Set to Move into Old Avon Site

The village approved financial incentives for McGrath Imports Inc. to keep its Audi dealership in Glenview.

The Village approved several financial incentives Tuesday to ensure McGrath Imports Inc.'s Audi dealership stays in Glenview, TribLocal reported this week. A 15-year sales tax rebate, $250,000 for site development costs and a waiver of building permit fees were granted, according to TribLocal. Proposed Glenview Retail Center Raises Resident Concerns

Mariano’s Fresh Market and a McGrath Audi dealership would anchor the new development at Waukegan and Golf.

A proposed shopping center where the old Avon Cosmetics distribution facility once existed is causing a stir with community members, TribLocal reported this week. According to TribLocal, Oak Brook-based Regency Centers hopes to redevelop the land at Golf and Waukgean roads with anchor stores Mariano’s grocery and a relocated McGrath dealership. Residents of Golf and the Glenview subdivsion of Golf Acres were vocal at a recent Village Board meeting, the article said. Their No. 1 concern: traffic.
