Gerald Hill told Patch about his reasons for leaving District 34 and taking a new position in West Bloomfield, Mich. “In my situation, I’m able to take advantage of retiring from the system and moving to another state," Hill explained. When Patch first reported Hill’s acceptance of the superintendent position in West Bloomfield, readers questioned, in the comments section, the pension he would receive from his time in Glenview and elsewhere. After accepting a position as superintendent of schools in West Bloomfield, Mich. last Saturday, Gerald Hill, 60, talked with Patch about the reasons for his departure from Glenview. Several years ago, because of family circumstances that would take him out-of-state, Hill said he approached the Board in anticipation of parting ways with the district. “I had originally intended to stay through 68 [years old],” he said. “The board and I decided to instead work on a senior leadership transition, allowing us to bring a new team into the district.” Stay up-to-date on the latest Glenview news: Like us on Facebook! Illinois has chosen not to award a $224,000 early childhood grant to the school district this year.
In a surprise twist from previous years, Glenview District 34 missed out on a $224,000 state grant for its early childhood program this year. "We did not get our Preschool For All Children At Risk grant this year," Supt. Gerald Hill said.
