Administrators hope conservative approach offers financial stability for future students at Glenbrook high schools.
The following release was provided by District 225. The Glenbrook High School District 225 Board of Education approved the 2012-13 budget, projecting $101,184,315 in revenues and $101,181,009 in expenditures in the Operating Fund. Based on the approved budget, the District forecasts an Operating Fund balance of $69.7 million as of June 30, 2013. “Maintaining strong fund balances is a key financial strategy for our district as we face uncertainties such as increasing student enrollment and potential decreases in state and federal funding,” said Board President Skip Shein. “By doing so, we greatly enhance our ability to continue providing the level of service our community expects from the Glenbrooks.” The majority (95%) of the District …

GBS and GBN recently participated in an energy study to reduce use and save money. The Illinois Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opportunity rated the district as 'highly efficient'; the schools have reduced energy consumption by $1M since 2008-2009.
Glenbrook North and South are doing their part to go Green but still have room for improvement, according to a recent energy study through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The retro-commissioning energy audit identified opportunities to reduce energy use and save money throughout the district, which was recognized as 'highly efficient' by the agency. Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC) was designated to complete the review at GBN while EnerNOC, Inc., an energy consulting firm, conducted the analysis at GBS. Both schools completed the no-cost process during the 2012 spring semester. “It was cited that the maintenance staff do an exceptional job in operating the schools in a highly efficient manner…

The following story was provided by District 225. Across District 225, on August 23, students filled the halls of Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South high schools for the first time after a particularly challenging summer. The months usually consumed with vacations and relaxation had been broken up by a handful of inexplicable events that touched the lives of many in the Northbrook and Glenview communities — the death of a teacher, a student who died in a car accident, the suicides of a GBN alum and a GBN football player. So on the rainy Thursday morning, as students of the Glenbrook Academy of International Studies gathered in the Student Activities Center at GBS, they were greeted with a personal story from the program’s director Matt …

His vehicle was hit by an SUV travelling east at the intersection. The SUV driver suffered minor injuries.
