North Shore Foodie Finds

Can Your Mouth Fit Glenview's Ultimate BLT Sandwich?

The "anti-resolution" sandwich is available at The Glenview House through the end of January. One Patch editor tried it and he probably won't eat again until February.

At the heart of downtown Glenview is a very big sandwich. No, it's more like a sandwich within a sandwich. Or a sandwich within two sandwiches. Either way, the Ultimate BLT at Glenview House is not your lunch box PB&J, that's for sure.  On one side, you have a grilled cheese sandwich. On the other side, another grilled cheese sandwich. Plus a half-pound of bacon, lettuce, tomato and homemade mayonnaise in the middle. Locals call it the anti-resolution sandwich, and legend has it that the restaurant will add an egg to the mix if you toss in an extra dollar. You might want to tackle this one with a friend. Probably one who likes sandwiches. At $11, plus tax, it's a rather fair-priced meal considering the 14.5 ounce sandwich packs 2640 …

This Sandwich Won't Help You Meet Your 2013 Goal Weight

Glenview House chef creates an anti-New-Year's resolution sandwich. Maybe you can start that new fitness regimen after lunch.

It's called the Ultimate BLT, but let's aknowledge Glenview House's newest dish for what it really is — an anti-New Year’s resolution sandwich. Glenview House’s Executive Chef Grant Slauterbeck created the sandwich, which has layers of half-pound crispy bacon, iceberg lettuce, juicy tomatoes and a house-made mayonnaise. All of that goodness is put between two grilled cheese brioche sandwiches that are slathered with butter, American and Swiss cheeses. If that’s not enough, you can add a cage-free fried egg to the creation for $1 more. Slauterbeck created the sandwich to fit in with the anti-near-year’s resolution theme. The sandwich is only available during January, so maybe this year's resolutions should start in February. The Ultimate …

10 Reasons We Love Glenview

Although there are many more, we've highlighted 10 reasons why we can't help but love our special town.

1. The Glen This Glenview landmark draws people from near and far and is just one of the many reasons we love Glenview. It can be easy to forget, however, that The Glen has not always been “The Glen.” This land was home to the Glenview Naval Air Station from 1937-1995. The Mission Statement for the redevelopment project said the goal was to “create a lasting source of pride for the community” with the addition of housing, job opportunities, and facilities for public enjoyment. With a school, restaurants, shopping and more The Glen has made Glenview a must-see for visitors.  Stay up-to-date on the latest Glenview news: Sign up for free newsletter! 2.
