Jewel To Close Nearby Grocery Store

The grocery store chain is closing a handful of stores in Aurora, Niles and Chicago, but will keep the rest going. Jewel has four stores in Niles, one is closing.

Police Blotter: Green Bay Packer's Flag Burned, 150K Coin Collection Missing

Glenview PD reported incidents Jan. 17- Jan. 24

Burglary Jan. 17 After returning to her parked car from Snap Fitness 1527 Waukegan Road, a female discovered someone broke her window and stole a black bag containing shoes and credit card statements. The missing items are valued at $40. Theft Jan. 18 A wreath was reported stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Wagner Road, which was valued at $20. Theft Jan. 18 at 4:46 p.m. $36 was reported missing after a woman discovered she left her coat in the bathroom at Advocate Medical Group at 1255 Milwaukee Avenue. Battery Jan. 18 at 10:34 p.m. Two drunken friends were arguing after exiting a Metra train at 1160 Depot Street. Glenview PD arrests Nov. 29 - Dec. 2.

Driving While License Suspended Dec. 1 at 4:27 p.m. Demetrios Karamitsos of Des Plaines was charged with driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage after a traffic stop at the intersection of Pfingsten and Lizette.  Bond was set at $1500 D and Karamitsos is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 30. Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Nov. 30 at 7:57 p.m. Jerzy W. Srodon of Mt. Prospect was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a BAC .08 or more and improper lane usage after a traffic stop at 3200 Central Road. Glenview PD Arrests Nov. 12 – Nov. 16

Identity Theft Nov. 12 at 1:00 p.m. Detectives charged Laura V. Cordial, 37, of Glenview, with identity theft after investigating a report that she had used the credit card of a family to purchase gift cards valued in excess of $24,000.00 from July to September, 2010.  Cordial was released on $500.00 I bond set by a judge at a bond hearing on Nov. 13 and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 30. Warrant (Deceptive Practice) Nov. 12 at 8:36 p.m. Rosemary Houston, 48, of Chicago, was charged at the Will County Jail on a Glenview bond forfeiture warrant for a deceptive practice arrest on Aug. 2 at Glenivew State Bank.
