There has been an increase in residents living at The Glen, and that could translate into more money for local agencies, according to a report recently released from the Village of Glenview. In 2011, data showed 4,854 residents living in 12 development areas of the former Glenview Naval Air Station, up from 4,649 in 2010. Glenview has withheld two months of payments claiming it was overcharged.
The Village of Niles filed a lawsuit against the Village of Glenview this Wednesday seeking $698,000 that Niles officials say its neighbor to the north owes in water bills. The amount represents payment for water used by 44,000 customers of North Maine Utilities—which is owned by Glenview—in April and May. The customers, who live in unincorporated areas, will continue to receive water while the two villages resolve their conflict, according to a statement released by the Village of Niles. In addition to homes, the utility serves hospitals, fire departments and businesses. Updated at 11:15 a.m. June 24 Tuesday night’s storm wasn’t good to Glenview. More than 6,800 residents lost power, and as of 10 a.m. this morning, around 1,900 are still in the dark. Service was restored to about 800 customers as of Wednesday, a total of 2200 by Thursday morning, and today, service has been restored to 4,922. Many of the remaining outages are residences and businesses in areas concentrated south of Lake Avenue and east of Waukegan Road, officials said. ComEd reported more than 400,000 customers in its service area lost power during the severe storm.
