Wagner Road will be closed to traffic between Glenview Road and Lake Avenue beginning today at 3 p.m.
Public Works crews have been repairing three water main breaks along Wagner Road between Lake Avenue and Glenview Road — at Appletree Lane, Timberline Drive and Normandy Lane, according to Village officials. The work is expected to take take four to six hours to complete, officials said this afternoon in an e-mail. The Village can expect up to 11 inches of snow before Saturday afternoon
Long gone are 40-degree days! Snow and frigid temps have come to Glenview and according to weather reports, residents can expect between 5-8 inches today, with an additional 1-3 inches overnight. Snow is expected to subside by tomorrow around noon and in the meantime, Public Works crews have been divided into two shifts and will be working around the clock until everything is cleaned up, Village Communications Director Lynne Stiefel told Patch. NIPSTA safety awareness day offers a unique learning opportunity for residents.
A Glenview organization plans a festive, hands-on experience in offering safety and rescue pointers as well as a behind-the-scenes look at its training facility this month. The Northern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) will hold its third annual Public Safety Awareness Day on Sept. 12, when more than 20 activities and demonstrations by first responders and other experts will take place. Attendees can interact with police dogs, dust for fingerprints and watch a vehicle extrication drill. Children will get an opportunity to learn about Internet safety with their parents, operate a fire hose and practice stop, drop and roll to snuff out a clothes fire.
