First Indian Restaurant Opens In Glenview
The new restaurant, Turmeric, is located at 2300 Lehigh Ave.
Turmeric is a leafy, green plant, related to ginger, whose root is commonly used as a spice in curries and other Asian foods. Turmeric is also the first Indian restaurant to open in Glenview, the Chicago Tribune reports. The restaurant was started by Sasikala Paidi and her brother Sarath Jayaraman, the Chicago Tribune reports, who came to the U.S. from India in the 1990s to attend school and find jobs. The restaurant servies a variety of dishes demonstrating the different culinary styles of North and South Indian, according to Turmeric's website.
