Edwin Mason, 71, was found dead in his car on Thursday in Glenview, the 'Chicago Tribune' reports.
Edwin Mason, 71, of Northbrook, was found dead in his car on the 1500 block of Milwaukee Ave. in Glenview, Thursday night, the Chicago Tribune reports. His death was ruled an accident by the Cook County Medical Examiner, caused by hypothermia and heart disease, the Glencoe News reports. Mason, a resident from the 0-100 block of Court of Hidden Bay, was pronounced dead at 8:24 p.m., according to the Chicago Tribune. He is the sixth person to die from cold exposure in Cook County this winter, according to the Glencoe News.

A 15 acre lot on Skokie Blvd., near the highway, could hold a 24 hour supercenter if the Village of Northbrook approves Walmart's request to rezone the space and develop a new store.
More than 100 people turned out for the Northbrook Village Board meeting Tuesday night. At one point during the meeting, trustee James Karagianis asked the audience who arrived to hear the Walmart proposal portion of the meeting and practically everyone raised their hand. Retail giant will make proposal at next board meeting for bid for the lot near Skokie Blvd. and Dundee Rd.
Walmart will make its initial presentation for a store near the intersection of Skokie Blvd. and Dundee Road at Tuesday’s Northbrook Village Board meeting, according to Village President Sandy Frum. "I'm not cutting them off," Frum said at Pinstripes on Monday during the annual State of the Village presentation. "I want them to make their case, I want the community to make its case." The presentation by the retail giant will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Northbrook Village Hall. This will be the closest Walmart store to Glenview. Harry -- forgot something. I would guess that the folks in the "class" Villages like Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe or Lake Forest also shop price shop. But they don't want a crap "Walmart" sign staring them in the face on Green Bay or Sheridan roads. That's just not too "classy" ; )   more ›
