ReplyObama isn't hateful or mean sirited. He is just wrong-headed and incompetent. We know that he plays fast and loose with the truth as did Hilary about multiple things. Obama believes in certain sociological and political theories which have failed multiple times over history but thinks that they failed because he and his ilk were not in charge then. The country is much worse off now than when Obama took office except for the folks who are able to exploit the mess. That is not to say that the Republicans do not bear some responsibility for the mess as well. But Obama is dangerous because He hides behind a veil of innocence when in reality he has an agenda to wrench the USA into conformity with his social(istic) views. Hilary would not be any better, I am afraid.

ReplyTruly one of God's very special people and we are all blessed to have known him. Mustard's hot dogs are the best but seeing and talking to Keith made my day every time I saw him. If the world were made of Keiths, we would be living in the perfect place.
I ope God welcomes him home with a huge celebration. -

ReplyGenerally speaking, states are not soverign. However 10 states have introduced legislation declaring themselves soverign (10th amendment). 20 more are in the process. The question would be adjudicated by THe Supreme Court. If Illinois were to become totally insolvent not being able to administer the state for lack of funds, it still could not declare bankruptcy. But what would happen is that social chaos would ensue, Marshall Law would be declared, the federal government would take over the operation of the state, and the legal status would most likely be that of a territory like Guam. If Illinois residents are wise, they should not stick around until that happens.

ReplyIllinois is kaput. The voters put this mess into place to gorge themselves at the public trough, filled by taxpayers who are leaving the state, through a one party political system supported by corrupt, power hungry politicians who also feed at a slightly more upscale section of the trough, Any "fix" these dopes come up with will not solve the problem in Illinois. Wait until Madigan shifts the teacher's pensions to the local school districts and onto the property tax. Wow, that will be some fix.

ReplyThe pols know that it cannot be fixed short of insolvency or depopulating the state by taxation. So they are just figuring out how they can best get whatver they can out of the coffers before the state collapses.

ReplyYou must be kidding. We are supposed to believe that the same dopes who got us into this are now going to get us out. Anyone who believes that probably voted for these dopes. The state should declare insolvency. At that point, a federal reciever would be appointed, a new state charter would have to be issued, all office holders would be out, a new state constitution would have to be written and new elections held, presumably by and for people who might not want to feed at the public trough.

One of the distinguishing characteristics of Evanston is that children are raised here and the schools are a significant factor in the community. We are an extended family, like it or not. As such, and given that persons are usually not all bad, it is perfectly appropriate that a moment of silence be observed for one of our own. Besides, let him/her who is without fault cast the first stone. If it were a national moment of silence, I can see complaining but this is a local person close to our community. At any rate, God is a better judge than we are.
