Glenview OKs Demolition of Unfinished House on Kennicott Lane

Pappas Construction Company of Glenview will be leveling the structure at 4111 Kennicott Lane.

Glenview trustees recently approved paying $51,300 for the demolition of an unfinished house at 4111 Kennicott Lane that the village has deemed a nuisance and a safety threat, Chicago Tribune reported.

Jane Weaver, a Virginia resident who's been staying with her father who lives next door to 4111 Kennicott, told Patch the ill-fated development has been a headache for people on the block.

According to Weaver, the property was seemingly built without "any sewage and no septic field," which has caused her father's yard to flood when it rains because of water build-up on the neighboring lot.

"I don't think people actually want to live in that place," Weaver added.

The village has hired Pappas Construction Company of Glenview to demolish the structure, which the village has cited for code violations since 2008, the newspaper reported.
