Unincorprated Northfield Township Storm Damage Assessment

Northfield Township Road District seeks resident storm damage information for FEMA

As a result of last week’s heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding in the
unincorporated areas of Northfield Township, Cook County Board President Preckwinkle issued disaster declaration for Cook County.  Governor Quinn has subsequently issued a disaster declaration for the State of Illinois encompassing more than 40 counties across the state.

The President has not yet issued a federal disaster declaration for our
area; and the Governor’s request is first subject to review by the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Before the federal government conducts its assessment to determine whether a federal disaster declaration may be issued, local jurisdictions are required to capture preliminary damage assessment information and provide this to the County and State emergency management agencies.

Northfield Township Road District is coordinating with the Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (CCDHSEM) and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) to collect initial assessments of the impact of last week’s storm from residents in the unincorporated areas of Cook County.
