Owner of Unfinished House on Kennicott Lane Appealing Glenview’s Decision

Glenview officials recently approved funds to level the structure at 4111 Kennicott Lane.

Morton Grove resident Emmanuel “Manny” Joseph, 43, owner of the property at 4111 Kennicott Lane is appealing Glenview’s decision to level the structure saying he doesn’t want the building torn down and has tried to work with the village to try to resolve the sewage issue of his house, Chicago Tribune reported.

The village says Joseph has repeatedly refused to show up to several scheduled meetings with the village and that even though Joseph has presented plans for a septic tank at Glenview environmental commission meeting, he didn’t return with more information as he was asked, “If it’s a danger to public safety, and the owner refuses to cooperate with the village, we’ll declare it a nuisance,” Joe Footlik, Glenview’s manager of inspectional services told the website.

In early July, Glenview trustees approved paying $51,300 for the demolition of the unfinished house at Kennicott Lane that the village has deemed a nuisance and a safety threat.

Jane Weaver, a Virginia resident who's been staying with her father who lives next door to 4111 Kennicott, previously told Patch the ill-fated development has been a headache for people on the block.

According to Weaver, the property was seemingly built without "any sewage and no septic field," which has caused her father's yard to flood when it rains because of water build-up on the neighboring lot.
