Willow Creek, Westgate on Tuesday Board Agenda

The Glenview Board of Trustees will take their first look at the two large projects proposed for Lake Ave. and Shermer Road.

The proposals to build a 75,000-square-foot church and 171 housing units at the corner of Lake Avenue and Shermer Road are coming before the Glenview Village Board of Trustees for the first time Tuesday night.

Willow Creek Community Church is hoping to build a 75,000 square-foot facility that will have capacity for 1,500 people per service. The church purchased one of the last available parcels from the old Glenview Naval Air, while residential developer Edward R. James Partners bought the other parcel, for a total of $22 million. Edward R. James is hoping to build 171 units of detached houses, row houses and townhomes at a development called Westgate at The Glen.

The 40 total acres on the northwest corner of the intersection was originally part of the 1,100-acre Glenview Naval Air Station.
